Tribratanews.polri.go.id. – Solos. The Central Java Regional Police have a program called 'I am your Sedulurmu'. The pilot project aims to help orphaned children because their parents died exposed to Covid-19. The program is a form of concern for the Central Java Regional Police to pay for the education of elementary school to high school children which will be carried out under the regional unit of the Central Java Regional Police.

This breakthrough received appreciation from the community, including the Care for Children Foundation (KAKAK Foundation). As is known, so far the foundation is engaged in the issue of protecting children from sexual violence and sexual exploitation of children (ESA), children as consumers and children in emergency situations.

“I saw very good things. Because in the midst of the current conditions, it requires concern from many parties, "explained the Chairman of the KAKAK Foundation, Shoim Sahriyati when met by the media crew.

Not only that, Shoim assessed that the presence of the program could minimize the possibility of exploitation of children. Because, Shoim said that many cases happened to children who were adopted by someone but instead became victims and means of exploitation.

“The police, of course, already have the main tasks and technical guidelines in terms of foster children. Of course this can avoid the risk of child exploitation from irresponsible people,” he explained.

Shoim hopes that the assistance provided can be long-term so that it will be more beneficial for the recipients, especially children who have been abandoned by both parents.

“Unfortunately if the assistance is only short term. We need to think about the long term and the state must be present to protect children whose parents died due to COVID-19," he said.

Regarding the Aku Sedulurmu program, Central Java Regional Police Chief, Pol. Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, explained that in the pilot project his party will help pay for the education costs for orphans who are victims of Covid-19 in all areas of Central Java.

The Central Java Regional Police will help pay for education costs from Elementary School to Senior High School other than those borne by the Government.

“We will help with the cost of uniforms and shoes as well as for additional lessons. This fee can also be used flexibly for additional needs for stationery, books, practice fees and so on,” explained the Regional Police Chief.

As for the implementation of tuition assistance for school children from elementary to high school level or the equivalent who have become orphans due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Regional Police Chief said it will be implemented after the data collected at each Police Stations have been reported to the Central Java Regional Police.
