Kabid Humas Maluku Confirmed Situations in Haluku Has Gone Quiet

17 February 2022 - 17:46 WIB
Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of the Maluku Police (Polda Maluku), Commissioner M. Roem Ohoirat announced that currently the situations on Haruku Island have been safe and secure. A joint military and police force was on standby to oversee the situation there.

“Thankfully, up until this morning, the situation in Haruku is safe. We also already deployed many troops of TNI-Polri and Dansat Brimob to oversee the situation there,” said Commissioner M. Roem in Polda Maluku Headquarters, Wednesday (16/2/2022).

Commissioner M. Roem said that since a day ago, his team has already communicated and coordinated with the community leaders in order to restrain the people from further escalation. He stated that the cops separated the position of the people to avoid open conflict.

"Certainly, as Kabid Humas and also as Moluccans, I urge all of you to restrain yourself and not to be provoked because this will harm the good name of Moluccans," said the Intermediate Officer of Polda Maluku.

Commissioner M. Roem adds that every year, TNI-Polri always held a search and implores the people against the use of firearms.

"Every year we destroy firearm weapons, however, they keep appearing. When we conduct a search, we do not always find the weapon. This is probably because the owner hides it in the forest. Thus, I think it is not just us destroying the weapons, but also the awareness of the people themselves," explained Kabid Humas Polda Maluku.

He hoped that the community faced this situation with a cold head and wisely in assessing the issues.

“Once again, I hope all parties face this situation with a cold head. Keep in mind that the provocations will only harm yourselves and us Moluccans,” he concluded.
