Tribratanews.polri.goid - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police Great Headquarters stated that Police would give extra attention to security in the Papua region after the attack and murder of health workers by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
"It is indeed a matter of concern from the Indonesian National Police Great Headquarter on the increase from the KKB's activity escalation", Chief of Public Information Bureau of PR and Press Division of Indonesian National Police, Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said on Friday (17/9/2021).
He also said that Police and Armed Forces are trying to normalise security in Papua. He explained that the security measures are to create a conducive situation in Papua.
"We are now trying to make Papua conducive again. We are working on it", he said.
"There are, of course, some pushes on how to protect health workers, and this would become Armed Forces-Police's attention to do so. Therefore, the health services in Papua could run again", he explained further.
Previously, West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organisation (TPNPB-OPM) admitted they conducted attacks and arson towards health and education service public facilities such as public health centres and schools in Pegunungan Bintang region of Papua on September 13-14, 2021.
They claimed that the action was a form of resistance until death to separate from Indonesia. OPM is ready if their case is being brought to international law.
