Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Purwokerto. Central Java Regional Police held a Covid-19 vaccination event for the 26,000 college students simultaneously across nine locations, one of them in the Muhammadiya University of Purwokerto (UMP) in Banyumas Regency.
"We held the Merdeka Vaccination in Central Java in nine locations for the 26,000 college students that would be vaccinated simultaneously", Chief of Central Java Regional Police, Police Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, said, accompanying Rector of UMP, Dr Jebul Suroso, after inspecting Merdeka Vaccination event at the Ukhuwah Islamiyah Auditorium of UMP in Banyumas.
Chief of Regional Police reminds us that 17 regencies/cities in Central Java implement Level 2 Community Activity Restrictions Enforcement (PPKM), and 18 regencies/cities implementing Level 3 PPKM. Therefore, offline learning and lecturing could be prepared. However, it needs to be in accordance with regulations stated by the Local Education Agency.
"Therefore, I thanked the rector, institutions, and several agency heads of the regency who together vaccinated college students", Chief of Regional Police said.
During the occasion, the Chief of Regional Police said that no matter how downgrading the PPKM level in Central Java is, Health Protocols remain the priority, started from mask-wearing, keeping distance, and avoiding unnecessary crowds.
According to the Chief of Regional Police, discipline in implementing Health Protocols become the final solution to the Covid-19 of Central Java. "I need to address the journalists that you should report constructive news related to Health Protocols because, no matter how great our vaccine is, they remain the priority", Chief of Regional Police said.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UMP, Dr Jebul Suroso, thanked the Central Java Regional Police, who has facilitated vaccination events for the students of UMP so they could start the offline lecture.
According to him, the Candi Merdeka Vaccination event participants reached 1,000 people with certain time management to avoid crowds. Related to how many vaccinated UMP students, the rector said they are still registering it because many of them are already vaccinated at their own domiciles, considering there was no routine offline lecturing. "Therefore, they are welcomed to get vaccinated at their places of origin", he said.
UMP Rector said that UMP had issued requirements for students willing to participate in offline lecturing: who is has been vaccinated and in healthy condition. Furthermore, UMP Rector said that as a form of care during the pandemic, the university said to Central Java Regional Police that there are scholarship programmes from UMP as much as Rp1 billion for the Central Java Regional Police, using a scheme determined through the New Student Admission Centre.
"This scholarship is for the family of Police personnel, started from Central Java Regional Police, Departmental Police, until Sectoral Police. Using the Police recommendation, students could enrol here using our scholarship scheme", he said.
