Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chairman of the Indonesian Youth Studies Center (LSPI), Dinal Gusti, said that the Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has a solid commitment to maintaining the democratic climate in Indonesia.

This can be seen after the issuance of the Chief of Indonesian National Police's Telegram Letter aimed at controlling and uniforming the attitude of the Police in each region so that they are more humane and not reactive in their duties.

According to the Chairman of LSPI, the issuance of the Chief of Indonesian National Police's Telegram Letter numbered: STR/862/IX/PAM.3/2021, on Wednesday night, September 15, 2021, was a concrete answer to several incidents related to the issue of civil liberties in expressing aspirations.

"The Chief of Indonesian National Police's Telegram letter is an affirmation of the Chief of Indonesian National Police's stance on several incidents that occurred between the officers and the public who were expressing their aspirations. In our opinion, several points emphasized in the Telegram letter are very in line with the spirit of the Indonesian National Police Precision. Therefore, we fully appreciate the steps taken by the Chief of Indonesian National Police," explained Chairman of LSPI in his statement, Wednesday (22/9).

In this Pandemic situation, the Indonesian National Police under the command of the Chief of Indonesian National Police plays multiple roles. Not only matters of ensuring public security and order, but the Indonesian National Police are also one of the important actors in tackling the Covid-19 outbreak together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, State Intelligence Service, and the Ministry of Health.

"President Jokowi appointed Chief of Indonesian National Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo in a situation where the nation suffers from the Covid-19 Pandemic. On his shoulders are two major tasks: Guaranteeing public security and order and Overcoming the outbreak. In this pandemic situation, these two things have a powerful correlation," he insisted.

The Head of the LSPI continued, the pandemic had a significant impact on the issue of public security and order. But so far, he sees the Chief of Indonesian National Police General Listyo Sigit eliminating the harmful effects caused to a reasonable point.

"We can trace some of the achievements of the Indonesian National Police, especially during this Pandemic. For example, the Chief of Indonesian National Police can ensure the availability of important basic materials (Bapokting) during the pandemic, bring order to speculators of masks, medicine and oxygen, protect forests from illegal loggers and mafia, arrest large-scale narcotics dealers. And many more. For us, Listyo Sigit is very professional. Therefore, he can maintain commitment and concentration amid difficult situations like this," he said.

On another occasion, the Secretary-General of LSP Indonesia, Deni Wahyudi, responded to netizens' criticism of the President and the Chief of Indonesian National Police. After the mural incident, they were considered anti-criticism, handling demonstrations by Sebelas Maret University (UNS) students and Mr Suroto in Blitar.

"We fully believe that the President and the Chief of Indonesian National Police are two individuals who are very open and willing to listen. However, when it comes to criticism, President Jokowi himself admits that it is a normal matter. "We believe in his great commitment to the precision program he has prepared. The mural incident and the handling of the demonstrators the other day were quite disappointing. However, we believe that the incident was an over-spontaneous reaction from the regional police, and not the will of the Chief of Indonesian National Police, let alone the President," he explained.

The Secretary-General of LSP Indonesia said that the issuance of the Chief of Indonesian National Police's Telegram Letter regarding the guidelines for the attitude of the police in dealing with civilians was very much in line with the spirit of the Indonesian National Police Precision. Therefore, he hopes that the Chief of Indonesian National Police's Telegram Letter can be translated well by his staff in each region.

"We hope that all the attitudes of officers in the field are always upright and precise with the instructions of the Chief of Indonesian National Police. A humanist, firm and democratic Indonesian National Police are the hope of all of us. Hopefully, things that have happened in the past will not repeat themselves in the future. But if it happens again, we ask the Chief of Indonesian National Police to provide strict sanctions on personnel who do not comply with the Chief of Indonesian National Police's Telegram Letter. As the younger generation, we are responsible for continuing to monitor and oversee the programs and policies of the Chief of Indonesian National Police Sigit to realize of the Indonesian National Police Precision," he concluded.
