Guarding the Future Generation, Chief of National Police Support Psychosocial of Children Affected by Covid-19

Commander of the Armed Forces, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, attended the psychosocial support event for the children and the disabled at the courtyard of Lemdiklat of the Indonesian National Police, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (2/11/21).

Chief of National Police said that children are the future generation. Therefore, the children affected by Covid-19 also must receive the same access towards basic necessities such as clothing, food, home, education, health, and welfare.

According to the Chief of Indonesian National Police, the common responsibilities are the message from the Indonesian President Joko Widodo. The rise of humanity, brotherhood, and unity from all angles is a big strength that can fulfil the belief that the Covid-19 pandemic could be handled together. In the middle of the pandemic, there have been 25,000 kids turned orphans. From those kids, there are even children of the Armed Forces-Police personnel who died when being the frontline to handle Covid-19.

In this psychosocial support, the government, Armed Forces, Police, and other stakeholders, provided psychological help through counselling. In the future, there will be hotline and e-psychology services to check kids' psychological conditions. Not only that, but this activity also distributed social aid to children and disabled people.

Chief of National Police emphasises that this support must be sustainable. By providing potential mapping of those kids, the counselling activity could be conducted either offline or online by Hotline Center Polri and e-psychology Polri for external, especially on children development.

In this event, National Police and all involved stakeholders provided psychosocial support simultaneously in 34 provinces towards 2,333 toddlers, kids, teenagers, and disabled people. In detail, 2,138 are kids, 195 are disabled people, and 48 are companion parents. Besides, there are also psychological counselling services for foster parents.

Chief of National Police hoped that, by this activity, kids affected by Covid-19 do not lose their happy childhood and not hinder their development, considering they are the future leaders. Sigit also appreciated all stakeholders involved in this event.

"They cannot lose their happiness and have to get what they want. We have to guide them to their ambitions. It is not impossible that between them is the leader of Indonesia in the future", Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said.

Chief of National Police said that building and guiding the future generation, it been in line with preparing human resources since the early ages. Mainly when Indonesia faced the demographic bonus of productive age in 2030.

"They are the demographic bonus. It is us on how to manage the bonus into a superior and professional people", Chief of National Police said.
