Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police Arrested Thief of Hundreds of Motorcycles in Jakarta and its Surroundings

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police arrested a man who initialled II, aka ILI (33), who was involved in the theft of hundreds of motorcycles in Jakarta and its surroundings.

"Because his speciality was motorcycle theft. Not tens of motorcycles, but hundreds of motorcycles have been stolen by him since 2012. We just managed to arrest him today", Chief of PR and Press Division of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus, in Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police Headquarter on Monday (2/8/2021).

Chief of PR and Press Division of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police said that II often operates with his four colleagues, one of whom is R, who was already in Cipinang Prison on the same case.

Meanwhile, another suspect, IR, was dead after being treated in hospital due to gunshot wounds from resisting officers when arresting him.

Another suspect, initialled O, is now still being chased by Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police investigators.

Chief of PR and Press Division of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police explained that the arrest of II started from the four initial reports of motorcycle theft in Duren Sawit, Cipinang, Pondok Kelapa, and Pondok Bambu in 2020.

"The perpetrator was arrested by the investigator team at Duri street, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. Based on the developing process by teams from Unit 4 of Mobile Investigation of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police. He was arrested on July 28, 2021, at 01.00 local time", the Chief of PR and Press Division of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police said.

Chief of PR and Press Division of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police also said that Police would keep developing the case because there are so many motorcycles that have been stolen by II, aka ILI.

Police now also chase down the goods collector from ILI's crime, initialled E.

Due to his actions, ILI is subjected to Article 363 of the Indonesian Criminal Code about Theft and threatened with seven years in prison.
