Greater Jakarta Metro. Regional Police Chief, Pol. General-Inspector Mohammad Fadil Imran, in the meeting, emphasized that the media and the Police are the guardians of civilization or social engineering who must be able to create a civilization of Indonesian society that rises to the level of more advanced democracies.
“We have an interest in how the democratic process runs well (in Indonesia),” he explained.
IJTI Jakarta Raya management, who attended the discussion, included Feby Budi Prasetyo (Chairman), Hazmi Fitriyasa (Vice-Chair), Kennorton Hutasoit (Secretary), Denny Batubara (Treasurer), and other members of the board from various television media.
The discussion between the journalists and the Regional Police Chief was interactive. In his presentation, the Regional Police Chief answered questions from journalists, explaining that the Police as a social engineer want to appear in the media as a police officer who carries out professional prevention and prosecution duties.
“It was reported that the Police were yelling at residents, giving the impression of being arrogant, that was unprofessional. I hope that what is shown is Police who work professionally when arresting perpetrators of drug cases; for example, the Police can do a urine test on the spot, so there is no need for debate in the field, prove it with a urine test that proves positive,” said the Regional Police Chief.
Greater Jakarta Metro. Regional Police has provided various equipment and technology for the prevention and surveillance of criminals or criminals. According to the Regional Police Chief, every corner of the capital city of Jakarta is available with cameras and facial recognition technology, which will make every criminal cannot hide. On that occasion, Secretary of IJTI Jakarta Raya Kennorton Hutasoit (Metro TV) said that professional press freedom respects the independence of the Police in carrying out their duties.
“The press is here to fulfil the freedom of expression and the right to information as human rights and basic needs of citizens. The Police are here to ensure public safety and order. Thus, professional press and Police both aim to advance democracy,” he concluded.
