Forensic Laboratorary Center of National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency Processes Tangerang Prison Fire Crime Scene

The Forensic Laboratory Team (Labfor) of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police will be dispatched to investigate the crime scene of the Class I Prison (Lapas) fire in Tangerang, Banten which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

"Yes, the Forensic Laboratorary team was deployed to investigate the crime scene," explained the Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Pol. Inspector General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono.

According to the Two-Star General, the Forensic Laboratorary of Forensic Laboratorary Team will later conduct a crime scene investigation to determine the cause of the fire that killed dozens of people in the Tangerang Prison.

Previously, it was reported that the Tangerang Class 1A Youth Prison (Lapas) was reported to have caught fire in the early hours of Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Reportedly, a fire occurred in Block G Lapas.

Based on temporary information data, 41 inmates were found dead in the cell.

"There are 41 people who died, currently they have been evacuated to the Tangerang District Hospital," said Pol. Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus

The police also recorded as many as eight inmates who were injured and taken to the Tangerang District Hospital and Sintanala Hospital.

"We evacuated 8 peoples with serious injuries to the Tangerang and Sintanala District Hospitals, they received treatment in the ICU. Meanwhile, there were 72 other peoples with minor injuries who were treated in prisons," said the Head of Public Relations of the Greater Jakarta Metro. Regional Police.
