For Seven Months, Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Successfully Revealed Circulation of 5.6 Kg of methamphetamine

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Kendari. Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police revealed the circulation of 5.6 kg of methamphetamine from January to July 2021.

Director of Drug Investigation of Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Muhammad Eka Faturrahman said the evidence was the result of case disclosure carried out by Directorate of Drug Investigation and Drug Crime Unit in this province.

"During January to July 31, 2021, we have uncovered 319 drug crimes with evidence we confiscated 5.6 kg of crystal methamphetamine," Police Grand Commissioner Muhammad Eka Faturrahman said.

In addition to confiscating evidence of methamphetamine, he said, police managed to secure 23.35 grams of gorilla tobacco and 72.11 grams of marijuana.

Director of Drug Investigation of Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police explained the evidence was the result of disclosing drug crimes within the jurisdiction of Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, including Directorate of Drug Investigation of Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Kendari City Resort Police, Konawe Resort Police, and Kolaka Resort Police.

Furthermore, North Kolaka Resort Police, South Konawe Resort Police, Bombana Resort Police, Muna Resort Police, Baubau Resort Police, Buton Resort Police, Wakatobi Resort Police, North Buton Resort Police, and North Konawe Resort Police. "From disclosure Result, we have secured 374 suspects," he said.

According to Intermediate Officer of Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, police’s successful in uncovering criminal acts of drug cases because of their cooperation with other agencies, including community who reported seeing drug crimes in their environment. "Of course, eradicating drug abuse and drug trafficking cannot be separated from cooperation with all parties, including community," he said.

Police Grand Commissioner Muhammad Eka Faturrahman advised people not to be involved in drug abuse or drug trafficking because if they were involved, particularly when they take part in the distribution, they will be threatened with Article 114 paragraph (2), subsidiary to Article 112 paragraph (2) of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 year 2009 concerning Narcotics.

The threat of death penalty, life imprisonment or imprisonment for minimum of six years and maximum of 20 years.
