Tribratanews.polri.go.id. – Jakarta. 1.1 ton of methamphetamine from the Middle East network bound for Jakarta and West Java was seized by the joint forces of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police and Central Jakarta Departmental Police.
"This raid is part of our commitment to eradicate transnational crime of illegal drugs distribution", Chief of National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said during a press conference in Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police Headquarter, Monday (14/6).
During the few last months, the Chief of National Police said, Police also seized 3.6 tons of methamphetamine. For the previous three months, at least 5 tons of methamphetamine are seized.
Due to the raid, the Chief of National Police appreciated his personnel who never stop to fight for a free-drug Indonesia. However, the former Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency was also concerned about the significant number of drugs entering Indonesia, even during this Covid-19 pandemic. Chief of National Police regrets the fact Indonesia is still deemed as promising drugs market by the dealer.
"We are concerned that Indonesia is now a large drug-consumer country, proven by the distribution of drugs in a short time, even after our raid. This becomes a picture of concern and challenge for our generation", the Chief of National Police said.
Previously, the Drugs Task Force of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police seized 1.1 ton of methamphetamine in four different locations. The illicit goods were from the Middle East network.
Four crime scenes are Green Pramuka Apartment in West Jakarta, where officers found 150 kg of methamphetamine owned by H alias NO (still on the run); Bassura Apartment in East Jakarta, with 75 kilograms of methamphetamine located and police arrest one suspect, AK; Pasar Modern Shop in Bekasi, West Java, with the evidence of 511 kilograms of methamphetamine and three suspects initialled NW, CSN, and UCN, in which the latter two are Nigerian citizen; and Gunung Sindur in Bogor, West Java, where Police captured two suspects: NR and HA.
