Eradicating Terrorism Actions, Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 of Indonesian National Police Arrested 53 Suspected Terrorists in a Week

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Up to Thursday, August 19, 2021, Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 of the Indonesian National Police has arrested 53 suspected terrorists across Indonesia.

"Until now, 53 suspected terrorists have been arrested by Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88", Chief of General Information Agency of the PR and Press Division of the Indonesian National Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, said on Thursday (19/8/21).

Previously, 48 terrorist suspects have arrested by the Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 of the Indonesian National Police in eleven provinces in a terrorism prevention and prosecution operation from Thursday (12/8) to Monday (16/8).

The eleven provinces are West Java, North Sumatra, Central Java, East Java, Maluku, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Lampung, Banten, South Sulawesi, and Jambi.

Out of 48 arrested terrorists, five of them are still on the run. Five of them spread across provinces such as East Java (2 people) and one people in West Java, Maluku, and North Sumatra.

Besides, in this operation, Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 also discovers Syam Organizer foundation, a fund source for the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist network.

Ten suspects arrested by Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 of the Indonesian National Police in eleven provinces are divided into two groups: one group affiliated with Jamaah Islamiyah and the other affiliated with Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).
