East Java Police Holds Press Conference Successfully Disclosing Cases of Fake Diploma Maker Syndicates

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Surabaya. Two suspects with the initials MW (32) from Bangkalan and BP (26) from Kenjeran, Surabaya City were arrested by the police. The two suspects were arrested by the Cyber Sub-Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Division of the East Java Police for the case of a school diploma forgery syndicate.

Head of Public Relations from East Java Regional Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Gatot Repli Handoko said the practice of falsifying diplomas was carried out by both offering through social media such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

"Both of them carried out illegal activities in the form of falsifying diplomas and offering to make these fake diplomas on social media," explained the Head of Public Relations of East Java Regional Police, Tuesday (06/22/2021).

The Head of Public Relations of East Java Regional Police added that the activity had been going on since 2019 until it was finally arrested by the cyber team in May 2021 yesterday. During the arrest, several fake certificates were confiscated.

The Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police said that MW and BP were also named suspects in the criminal act of Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) in accordance with Article 35 junto Article 51 paragraph 1 of Law Number 11 of 2008 and Article 263 of Article 55 of the Criminal Code.
“His sentence related to ITE matters is 12 years in prison. Then what is related to the article of the Criminal Code is six years in prison, "said the Head of Public Relations of East Java Regional Police.

In the same place, Deputy Chief of Crime Investigation Unit of East Java Regional Police, Grand Commissioner Attendant Zulham Effendy added, in addition to falsifying diplomas, the two suspects also received other document falsification services such as ID cards, family cards (KK), birth certificates to security guard competency certificates. For each of the falsified documents, the suspects charged varying rates, ranging from IDR 250 thousand to IDR 2.5 million.

“There are nine products made by them and given different prices. For elementary school diplomas, IDR 300 thousand, junior high schools IDR 500 thousand, high school or equivalent vocational schools are IDR 800 thousand, undergraduate degrees are IDR 2 million, postgraduate diplomas are IDR 2.5 million. The ID card is IDR 300 thousand, the family card is IDR 300 and the birth certificate is IDR 250 thousand, and the security guard training certificate is IDR 500 thousand, "explained Deputy Chief of Crime Investigation Unit of East Java Regional Police.

East Java Regional Police's Deputy Chief of Crime Investigation Unit said that so far there have been around 94 fake certificates that have been circulated. With a total turnover received reached IDR 86 million.

East Java Regional Police's Deputy Chief of Crime Investigation Unit confirmed that although the forgers of diplomas have been arrested, his party will continue to develop this case. And will trace anyone who has used the services of the two suspects.

"We will explore orders to BP and to MW from their cellphones, and this is indeed a quite unique mode, actually conventional but the impact is quite disturbing to the community." Said The Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation at East Java Regional Police.
