Ditpolairud Baharkam Polri Thwarted 1.396 Illegal Logging

inp.polri.go.id – Palu. Air and Water Police Division (Ditpolairud) Baharkam of the National Police (Polri) thwarted the smuggling of 1,396 illegal logs, which was done from two different operating locations.

The Head of the Public Relations Division (Kabidhumas) of Polri, Inspector General (Irjen) Dedi Prasetyo, revealed that the first operation was carried out in the waters of the Belayan River estuary, Bangun city, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. In this location, the police arrested one suspect.

"One person has the initials B with an alias of R," said Dedi to the media crew, Jakarta, Friday (4/2/2022).

Police found 1,000 logs mixed with one small boat. For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 83 paragraph (1) letter b in conjunction with Article 12 letter (e) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction.

Another operation was also held at Mahakam River, Subaya Hamlet, Sebulu Modern Village, Sebulu, Kutai Kertanegara, East Kalimantan. During the operation, the police confiscated 396 wooden sticks as evidence. In this location, authorities named two suspects with an alias of S and R.

The suspect is suspected of violating Article 12 letter (e) in conjunction with Article 83 paragraph (1) letter (b) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction.
