Inspector-General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, accompanied by the Head of Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Riau, Pujo Harinto, and Head of DJBC Riau, Agus Yulianto, said the Riau Regional Police and the ranks and related agencies succeeded in thwarting the circulation of narcotics as much as 117 kilograms of methamphetamine and 1,000 ecstasy pills from 7 Malaysian networks.
The Regional Police Chief explained that the disclosures made with the Customs and Excise Ministry and the Riau Ministry of Law and Human Rights were carried out from August 18, 2021, to September 2021. "We reveal the distribution of drugs carried out by 7 drug networks that act in the Riau region," explained the Regional Police Chief.
The first disclosure was made on August 18, 2021, in Bengkalis and Pekanbaru. From this network, evidence was obtained of 3 kilograms of methamphetamine and 1,000 pills of ecstasy arrested in Pekanbaru.
"We raided the travel base that will be sent to the Lampung area. This is controlled by AH's brother who we arrested in Ciamis, he controlled the incoming and distributed drugs through the suspect NS who we arrested in Pekanbaru. The Malaysian network controls this, which is through a courier controlled by someone from Malaysia, later received by AH and the results will be handed over to the perpetrators in Malaysia," explained the Regional Police Chief.
The second arrest was on August 26, 2021, as much as two kilograms of methamphetamine was planned to be sent to Jambi, which came from Malaysia.
"The second arrest was a suspect with the initials ES and evidence of 2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. He collaborated with HT's brother who was going to bring this methamphetamine to Jambi, but when we were in Pekanbaru we were ambushed. This network is controlled by the LP brothers who are in Malaysia,” continued the Regional Police Chief.
Then the third arrest was made by the ranks of the Riau Police on August 29, 2021, the Riau Regional Police unloaded a cargo package-carrying 4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, which was packaged in cans of bread.
The method of storing drugs in bread tins is used by dealers to trick law enforcement officers into successfully delivering the methamphetamine to buyers.
“This is thanks to good cooperation with cargo organizers so that we were able to thwart 4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine that was placed in a bread tin. So it's as if it's a package of bread. This is also controlled from Malaysia, through a sea trishaw with the suspect RP we arrested in Pekanbaru, and we developed that the suspect had twice sent methamphetamine this way, our RP cooperated with prisons in South Lampung, we arrested the suspect with the initials RD, this the plan is to distribute it in Lampung,” said the Regional Police Chief.
Then there was the fourth arrest in the last month, which was made by the Pekanbaru Resort Departemental Police. Where drug dealers use boarding houses in Pekanbaru, to trick law enforcement officers.
"There is a network that uses boarding houses, they rent a boarding house and then prepare the goods there, but we managed to catch 13 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, in this boarding house two drug transactions have been carried out," said the Regional Police Chief.
Furthermore, the Regional Police Chief explained, the 5th arrest was made by the Riau Regional Police together with the Bengkalis Resort Police, in the Rupat area, on September 7, 2021. The drugs originating from Malaysia, weighing 46 kilograms, were sent from Malaysia via Rupat Island, Bengkalis, and will be sent to Medan. through Dumai and Pekanbaru.
"This 46 kilos of crystal methamphetamine is controlled by brothers YN, JN, and DN who have their addresses in North Sumatra, later this 46 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine will be brought to Medan using a motorbike to carry 46 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. We caught them in Dumai, and when we developed them, we found BM's brother with his address at the Riau-Jambi route, in Siberida Inhu. There is a warehouse where these items are stored and distributed. In this warehouse, the distribution of methamphetamine has been carried out twice, previously it was 50 kg of crystal methamphetamine, then we caught 46 kilograms of Crystal Meth,” explained the Regional Police Chief.
The 6th arrest was made by the Riau Regional Police together with Customs and Excise and Water and Air Police Unit. At least 40 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were recovered from 3 suspects.
“This started with customs and Air Police patrols on the coast around Dumai, which then suspected that a ship was being followed and disappeared. Until finally we found these three suspects were putting 40 kg of crystal methamphetamine from the ship, and they were taken by motorbike and placed in Dumai General Hospital, as soon as the methamphetamine was dropped off, we immediately arrested them. To secure 40 kilograms of methamphetamine that we ambushed behind the Dumai Hospital," said the Regional Police Chief.
Finally, the 7th arrest was also made with Customs and Excise in the Bengkalis area, on September 13, 2021. There were three suspects arrested and 9 kilograms of Crystal Meth seized as evidence.
“We found the perpetrators trying to distribute the RP, WH, and RB. We do tailings, goods entering from Malaysia to Bengkalis, Pekanbaru and will be brought to Jambi. We know that the city's work is to cut off the network. What I need to emphasize is that some time ago there was always a large party if it was sent from Malaysia, which means there is a change in operations from wholesale to retail and we will close ranks by collaborating,” concluded the Regional Police Chief.
