Deputy Chief of Riau Regional Police Together with BEM Riau Distributed Packages of Nine-Basic-Needs Aid in Pekanbaru City

Deputy Chief of Riau Regional Police, Police Brigadier General Tabana Bangun, together Riau Student Executive Board (BEM) held social service by distributing 100 packages of nine-basic-needs (sembako) for people affected by Covid-19. The event was held at Rusli Ahmad Pondok Aren Rumbai Pekanbaru City, Friday (07/30/2021).

Also attending at the event were Director of Directorate of Community Guidance and Developmemt, Police Grand Commissioner Kris Pramono, Director of Water and Air Police, Police Grand Commissioner Eko Irianto, High Rank Officers of Riau Regional Police, Head of PWNU (Nadlatul Ulama) Riau Rusli Ahmad, Head of Rumbai Subdistrict and representatives of Riau BEM.

In his remark, Deputy Chief of Riau Regional Police said Social Service activity carried out with Riau BEM were police and students' concern on community regarding current condition related to Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, especially in Pekanbaru city which is currently implementing PPKM (Community Activity Restriction) level 4.

"The theme of this activity, "Indonesia National Police cares for the country", we all know Covid-19 spread in Pekanbaru City is at alarming stage, where the new confirmed positive case yesterday has reached two thousand cases per day, while for Riau Province based on data from Covid-19 handling task force, the accumulation of confirmed positive Covid-19 patients as of July 29, 2021 was 93,913 people, while cumulatively recovered patients are 79,871 people and 2,501 people died. If it is not handled seriously, it will be dangerous,” Deputy Chief of Riau Regional Police added.

"This increase in Covid-19 cases is due to an increase in community activity and mobility. Therefore, I invite the entire community to comprehensively handle Covid-19, through contingency management by applying 3T stages (tracing, testing and treatment) and implement 5 m (wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds and limiting mobility). I hope the social service activity carried out today, all components of society in Riau Province can continue to work hand in hand and support one another for the sake of peaceful, calm and conducive public security and order situation; and Indonesia National Police must continue to be present in the midst of community," Deputy Chief of Riau Regional Police concluded.
