Densus Counter-Terrorism 88 Secured Alleged Members of Terrorist Groups

Special Detachment (Densus) Counter-Terrorism 88 of the National Police (Polri) successfully secured alleged members of terrorist group Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD) who planned an attack on the Kampar Sector Police, Kampar Regency, Riau Province.

Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) Polri of the Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan stated that the perpetrator with the initials of EP was a member of JAD Padang, West Sumatra Province.

"EP has made preparations for attacking the police station, but Densus 88 officers managed to thwart it," he said in Jakarta, Sunday (14/02/22).

Brigadier General. Ahmad Ramadhan stated that the suspect was arrested at the Kampar Police Headquarters on Tuesday (08/02/22) at around 23.48 WIB. He adds that EP was apprehended when he was hiding in one of the rooms in Kampar Police Headquarters

“He was arrested when he was hiding in an empty room of Kampar Police Headquarters at night,” stated the One-Star General.

The arrests of JAD members also occurred in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Province. Special Detachment (Densus) Counter-Terrorism 88 arrested two terrorist suspects with the initials RAU and SU. Both have pledged allegiance to the leader of a terrorist group. RAU pledged allegiance to the Amir Daulah Islamiyah Abu Bakar Al Baghdadi in 2014 and pledged allegiance to the Amir Daulah Islamiyah Al Hasyim in 2019.

Then, SU pledged allegiance to Amir Daulah Islamiyah Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi in 2016 and pledged allegiance to ISIS Abu Ibrahim Al Hashimi Al Quraishi in 2019. The suspect is known to have planned a strike by attacking the police station.
