The Counterterrorism Detachment 88 (Densus 88) of the Indonesian National Police was reported to have raided a house of a suspected terrorist in Makassar on Thursday. From the information gathered, the raid was conducted at Camba Jawayya street, Tello subdistrict, Panakkukang district, Makassar.
Police raided a house that belonged to a housewife initialled SR (56). During the raid, Densus 88 personnel found some evidence, such as books and arrowheads. Chief of South Sulawesi Regional Police, Police Inspector General Merdisyam, who was met by the press at Bhayangkara Hospital on Friday afternoon (30/7/2021), confirmed the raid. According to him, the raid was conducted by Densus 88 and the team from South Sulawesi Regional Police.
"We are indeed backing up Densus 88. The development would follow yesterday's handling", Police Inspector General Merdisyam said.
The terrorist suspect SR, Chief of Regional Police continued, is a member of the Poso terrorist network led by Ali Kalora. "So (the suspect we arrested) yesterday has a connection with (the terrorist group in) Poso", the two-star general said.
Chief of Regional Police also stated that SR's group is not related to Villa Mutiara terrorist network. As information, the raid in SR's house was conducted after the departure of tens of South Sulawesi terrorist suspects to Jakarta a month ago.
As previously reported, tens of terrorist suspects from South Sulawesi were transferred to the Indonesian National Police Headquarter in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon (1/6/2021).
The departure process was conducted at the old terminal of Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Maros regency, at 12.23 local time. They were dispatched by a Lion Air flight.
During the journey from the airport to dispatch, the terrorist suspects are subjected to heavy security from the Densus 88 team. There are sixty people bound for Jakarta, consists of 51 men, seven women, and two toddlers.
The dispatch was attended by Commander of Mobil Brigade Unit of South Sulawesi Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Muhammad Anis Prasetio Santoso; Chief of Operational Affairs of Hasanudin Airbase, Flying Colonel David and Ali Hamzah; and others. However, Chief of PR and Press Division of South Sulawesi Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner E Zulpan, refused the number.
According to him, there are only 58 terrorist suspects departing for Jakarta, consisted of 51 men and seven women. "No, no. The total is 58 people, all adults, including the ones treated in the hospital. We have dispatched them all", the Chief of PR and Press Division said.
The terrorist suspect treated in Bhayangkara Hospital was initialled I. "So, out of 58 people, there are seven women. (Including two terrorist suspects applying for a pretrial lawsuit), So it is all clear," the Chief of PR and Press Division said.
