Covid-19 “Positivity Rate” Reaches Lowest Point During a Pandemic, World Bank Officials Praise Covid Handling in Indonesia

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The decline in the number of the spread of Covid-19 is certainly inseparable from the role and support of the community in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. The Indonesian National Police are also important actors in tackling the Covid-19 outbreak together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Ministry of Health and related agencies.

This can not be separated from the role of the Indonesian National Police and related agencies. They tirelessly and relentlessly continue to increase socialisation, provide education, and provide our firm steps in providing a deterrent effect for violators of health protocols through controlling activities and judicial operations to improve community discipline.

We should appreciate the various efforts and involvement of the Indonesian National Police in handling Covid-19. The Indonesian National Police have worked hard as an instrument of security and public order during the pandemic. One of the Indonesian National Police efforts is to establish the Aman Nusa II Task Force, which consists of the General Criminal Task Force, the Economic Task Force, and the Cyber Task Force. Each sub-task force is tasked with cracking down on general crimes, economic crimes, and cybercrimes during the pandemic.

The rampant Covid-19 cases in Indonesia have received praise from several parties. One of those who praised Indonesia's handling of the pandemic was the World Bank.

In an article entitled "Indonesia has passed 100 million COVID-19 vaccine doses. What can we learn?", World Bank Country Director for Indonesia and Timor-Leste Satu Kahkonen explained that Indonesia has successfully handled the pandemic in two efficient ways.

Kahkonen explained that Indonesia has succeeded in building a perception that rapid vaccination can mitigate the effects of Covid-19 infection. This makes Indonesia able to inject 100 million doses of the corona vaccine to date.

"While the global vaccine shortage has become a major problem for other countries, Indonesia has been able to secure a stable supply and significantly increase its vaccination program," she said.

The second point written in the report is the focus of government funding on handling the pandemic. Mainly for the health sector, economic recovery, and social impact mitigation.

"This commitment worth US$ 50 billion has been obtained from the government budget through re-prioritization, and also by mobilizing external resources," he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19, Wiku Adisasmito said that the weekly Covid-19 cases in Indonesia again recorded a drastic decline. However, as of September 20, 2021, daily positive topics touched a thousand points, with operational issues of 1% for five consecutive days.

"This is a pretty good achievement and the fruit of all of our hard work, considering that we once reached 56,000 cases with active cases up to 18% last July," Wiku said at his press conference, Wednesday, September 22 2021.

In addition, Wiku also said that people who were positive for Covid-19 or the positivity rate were only 2.48%. This figure, he said, was the lowest weekly positivity rate Indonesia had ever achieved during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The results are known from the number of people examined in these weeks, where the number of testing reached 1 million people. The number of testing has increased from the previous 600 to 900 thousand people who were tested.

The decline in Covid-19 cases in Indonesia, said Wiku, was also followed by an increase in the percentage of the cure rate. Cure has now reached more than 95%, and daily treatments also continue to increase from positive cases every day.

"Even on September 13, cases of recovery were almost five times higher than daily positive cases, where positive cases increased by 2,577 cases while recovery increased by 12,474 cases," he explained.

Although Wiku claimed that the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia was under control, he emphasized that the government would not conduct a drastic Micro Restriction (PPKM) evaluation, both for Java-Bali PPKM and outside Java-Bali.

"In the future, the evaluation will only take the form of adjustments to conditions on the ground," he concluded.
