North Sumatra Police Chief (Kapolda Sumut) Inspector General (Irjen) Panca Putra held a cross-sectoral meeting with Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) North Sumatra to discuss Covid-19, Monday (14/2/2022).
The authorities stated the Covid-19 cases in North Sumatra have surged, with 825 new cases in North Sumatra, from across 33 districts.
“We do not have to be panicked in facing this situation, we just have to follow the instructions given by the government,” said Kapolda Sumut.
Irjen Panca Putra stated to suppress the outbreak of Covid-19, Yustisi Operation must be tightened considering the community starts to ignore the restrictions.
“The obedience of the community in adhering to the health protocols is the key to suppressing the outbreak of Covid-19, including its new variant, Omicron,” said Inspector General Panca Putra.
The Two-Star General also said that activities that causes crowds must be restricted and if its violated, then the authorities will act upon it.
“We have to believe that we can get through this third wave. Existing regulations must be enforced and tightened more, with sanctions given to those who violate it,” stated Kapolda.
