Tribratanews.polri.go.id- Padang. The Regional Police of West Sumatra commemorated the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia by diving and carrying out a ceremony to raise the Red and White Flag on the seabed of the area.
West Sumatra Police Traffic Director, Pol. Grand Commissioner Yofie Girianto Putro in Padang, Monday said this activity was carried out to enliven the RI-76 Anniversary by holding a ceremony on the seabed of Padang City.
He said this activity was led by the Deputy Chief of the West Sumatra Regional Police Brigadier General Pol. Edi Mardianto and followed by a number of key West Sumatra Police officials such as the West Sumatra Regional Police's Mobile Brigade Commandr Unit, Pol. Grand Commissioner Joni Afrizal, Water and Air Police Director, Pol. Grand Commissioner Sahat Marisi Hasibuan and the West Sumatra Regional Police's Traffic Director.
The flag raising itself was carried out at a depth of about 20 meters in the Padang City Sea.
The implementation of the Indonesian Independence Day was carried out in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which caused limitations in carrying out activities, but the West Sumatra Regional Police tried to enliven Independence Day by holding this event.
The raising of the Red and White Flag on the seabed was also carried out last year but did not reduce the solemnity of the implementation of the flag ceremony under the sea.
The divers consisting of the Deputy Chief of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Traffic Director, Mobile Brigade Commander Unit, Water and Air Police Director of West Sumatra Regional Police and members wore daily official attire equipped with diving equipment.
