Commemorating Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2021, Riau Regional Police held the vaccination event for the people with disabilities on Friday (13/8/2021) and remote communities such as the Sakai tribe of Bengkalis, Akit tribe of Meranti, and Talang Mamak tribe of Inhu started on Saturday (14/8).
The vaccination event for people with disabilities was held at Vaccination Centre at Sudirman street of Pekanbaru. There are 23 people with disabilities from several regencies enthusiastic about getting vaccinated—eight from Pekanbaru, eight from Siak, four from Pelalawan, and three from Kampar.
Chief of Medicines and Health Agency of Riau Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner dr Prio Kuncoro, stated that Police would provide extra attention to people with disabilities by picking them up and take them to the vaccination centre, considering their conditions, to achieve herd immunity.
"This afternoon, the team and we served the people with disabilities. They are picked up and brought by our officers, accompanied by their families. They are part of achieving herd immunity. The herd immunity shall be reached if at least 70% of the population are vaccinated", Chief of Medicines and Health Agency of Riau Regional Police concluded.
On the same occasion, Chief of Riau Regional Police, Police Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, who inspected the vaccination event, made time to interact with one of the participants after being vaccinated and thanked them for being there vaccinated at the Vaccination Centre.
"Your spirit could be an example. Despite all obstacles, but still have an outstanding spirit", Chief of Riau Regional Police said.
Sumirah (65), one of the vaccination participants, felt happy after being vaccinated and treated well by the service of Riau Regional Police.
"I was afraid at the beginning, but now I feel happier and more comfortable. Thank you, dear Police personnel, who were able to help us to get vaccinated today. I encourage everyone to get vaccinated just like me", she appealed.
