Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Palu. Head of the Greater Madago Operations Public Relations Division Task Force, Police Grand Commissioner Didik Supranoto, informed that the Greater Madago Operations Phase Three, which ends on September 30, 2021, has been extended from October 1 to the end of December 2021. The Greater Madago Operations, which began on January 1, 2021, is developed every three months.
Didik explained that there were no additional Indonesian National Armed Forces or Indonesian National Police personnel from the current task force number of 1,500 joint personnel involved in pursuing the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terrorist group.
"So if the third phase of the Greater Madago Operations on September 30 has ended (but) it will still be extended until the next stage to stage four, (for) the next three months. Hopefully, with this extension, the Poso problem can be resolved soon," explained the Head of the Greater Madago Operations Public Relations Division Task Force.
The fourth phase of the Greater Madago Operations focused on pursuing the remaining four People Search List (DPOs) from the MIT group, allegedly located in the mountainous forests of Poso, Sigi and Parigi Moutong districts. The four terrorists were Askar alias Jaid alias Pak Guru, Muhklas alias Galuh alias Nae, Ahmad Gazali alias Ahmad Panjang, and Suhardin alias Hasan Pranata.
The Head of the Greater Madago Operations Public Relations Division Task Force explained that the Greater Madago Task Force also formed a bulkhead post to prevent the group from returning to community settlements and prevent the group's sympathizers from going up to the mountains to provide logistical assistance. In addition, educational activities were also carried out to the public not to be influenced by invitations to carry out radicalism.
The Director of the Central Sulawesi Celebes Institute, Adriani Badra, assessed a need for community involvement to ensure that there was no more logistical support for the four terrorists. After Ali Kalora, the group has lost its leadership and ability to control the terrain in the vast forests of Poso, Sigi and Parigi Moutong regencies, Adriani added.
"We really hope that this operation can complete or arrest the remaining four DPOs, but it is also very important to do counter (anti) guerrilla action, which means to encourage people to believe (that) these four people do not know the field anymore, there is no leadership, weapons and equipment. Minimal logistics, so it does not provide access to logistics or places,” The Director of the Central Sulawesi Celebes Institute.
