Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Pekanbaru. National Police's Water and Air Corps of Security Maintance Agency managed to secure a man with the initial of R carrying 1,200 Oriental magpie-robin birds in the Lalang Harbor area, Sungai Apit, Siak Regency, Riau.
"Officers arrested a man with the initials R who was carrying thousands of birds on Thursday, September 2, 2021. We caught them thanks to the information provided by the community and we found an anonymous speedboat unloading a basket containing thousands of Oriental magpie-robin birds, explained the Hayabusa Ship Commander, Pol. Second Inspector Febrian, Friday (09/03/2021).
After being arrested, suspect R and thousands of birds were handed over to the Riau Regional Police's Sub Directorate of Law Enforcement - Directorate of Water and Air Police for further legal proceedings.
Head of Sub-Directorate for Law Enforcement - Riau Regional Police's Directorate of Water and Air, Pol. Grand Commissioner Wawan Setiawan said the thousands of Oriental magpie-robin birds had been handed over to the Riau's Natural Resources Conservation Center.
"This animal must be saved and we have handed it over to the Natural Resources Conservation Center," explained the Head of the Law Enforcement - Sub-Directorate of the Riau Regional Police's Water and Air.
