Jayapura - Chief of PR Task Force of Nemangkawi, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, addressed his release regarding the shooting incident towards a motor-taxi driver at the Kali Ilame permanent bridge of Wako village, Puncak, which was suspiciously conducted by Unknown Person. Based on the chronology, on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 16.00, Jusalim (48) was driving his passenger to the Gome district. When he was returning to Ilaga, near the Kali Ilame permanent bridge of Wako village, the victim was stopped by two suspects.
The perpetrators asked the victim to take one of the two to return to Gome to get something from their house. Afterwards, the victim and his passenger (one of the perpetrators) returned to where the passenger was picked up, in which another perpetrator was waiting near the Gome permanent bridge.
Then, when the perpetrator's friend (Suspect 2) got down from the motorcycle, Suspect 1 approached the victim from behind and pointed the gun towards the victim and pulled the trigger. However, the victim turned his head to the left, so the bullet only hit the right cheek. The victim then runs with his motorcycle to Yonif 521 Raider Security Post to ask for help and assistance. The victim was then brought to Ilaga Public Health Centre to receive medical assistance. The victim was still conscious.
Data gathered by the Police stated that the identity of the perpetrators is still under investigation. The victim was identified as Jusalim (48), a male. Police then seized one green helmet numbered 085, belonged to the victim, one unit of red and black Yamaha Jupiter MX motorcycle.
Police Grand Commissioner Kamal explained that Police had arrived at the crime scene and secured it, asking for statements from the victim, and chasing the perpetrators. The case is now being handled by Puncak Departmental Police. "The victim is now being treated at Ilaga Public Health Centre and still conscious". The victim is planned to be moved to Mimika Regional General Hospital today, Tuesday, October 5, 2021, for further medical care regarding the victim's injuries.
