"In principle, related to the bike lane, we will keep looking for the exact formula. We agree to dismantle the permanent cycling lane", the Chief of Police said during the meeting with the Third Commission at the Indonesian Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (16/6/2021).
The Chief of Police said that police would conduct a cycle lane survey in several countries. Regarding the hour usage and cycle lane width, the Chief of Police will coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and the Jakarta Provincial Government.
" We will conduct an overseas survey to out neighbouring countries so we can obtain the cycling route and time usage, either for sport or regular activities. Related to the time of use and areas for cycling, we will coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and Jakarta Regional Government", the Chief of Police said.
In areas with cycle lanes, the Chief of Police said that the Chiefs of Regional Police coordinate similarly so the road users can utilise existing facilities.
"All Chiefs of Regional Police should do the same thing so the cycle lane for the people would still exist, but with limited hours so it will not disturb other road users or transport modes in utilising road space. We will keep improving it, and we hope we can do it well", the Chief of Police added.
