Tribratanews.polri.go.id. – Papua. At the courtyard of Jayapura 2 Public Senior High School, Chief of Papua Regional Police, Police Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri, inspected the Merdeka vaccination event in the context of vaccination acceleration in Papua province on Monday (23/08/2021).
The event was also attended by Director of Community Development of Papua Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Gatot Aris Purbaya; Chief of Medicine and Health of Papua Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner dr Nariyana; Head of Regional Education, Libraries, and Archives Agency, Protasius Lobya; and Deputy Headmaster of 2 Public Senior High School of Jayapura, Agus Salim.
Chief of Papua Regional Police stated, "We give our thanks to God because we have been given strength and chance to be present in this 2 Public Senior High School of Jayapura that we are all proud of to attend the second stage of vaccination event".
"Today, I am very proud because I can visit the 2 Public Senior High School of Jayapura on the Merdeka vaccination event because I used to study here", Chief of Papua Regional Police said.
This vaccination event is a form of cooperation between Papua Regional Police and the Government of Papua Province, especially Regional Education, Libraries, and Archive Agency.
"I will be ready to cooperate with 2 Public Senior High School of Jayapura in many events because of my appreciation to this school who is the pioneer of the Door to Door Vaccination that has entered second stage", Chief of Papua Regional Police continued.
"We hope that we could stay in touch beyond this event, but also on other activities. I thanked the teachers for cooperating with us in pursuing 70% herd immunity in Jayapura city", Chief of Papua Regional Police said.
Chief of Papua Regional Police also addressed the students and teachers not to be afraid of being vaccinated because this is a government programme to make Papuans healthy and avoid Covid-19 threats.
In his opening statement, the Head of Regional Education, Libraries, and Archives Agency stated that "There is no one who can found the drug for Covid-19. The ones the expert could do is by vaccination and adhering to Health Protocols to avoid the Coronavirus".
"This vaccination is not lethal. I have vaccinated for the second jab, and if there are people who said that vaccine could bring degenerative disease, then I could say that is not true", he continued.
Deputy Headmaster of 2 Public Senior High School of Jayapura said that this vaccination event is well-organised due to cooperation between National Police and Papua Province Education Agency. He supports the vaccination-for-students programme.
"Thank God, we from 2 Public Senior High School of Jayapura is being trusted to held vaccination in Waena region. We hope that vaccination rate here could achieve 70% so we could return to offline learning", he concluded.
