Chief of Papua Regional Police Inspected Mass Vaccination Event at 4 State Senior High School of Jayapura City

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Chief of Papua Regional Police, Police Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri, inspecting mass vaccination event at the 4 State Senior High School of Jayapura City on Thursday (05/08/21).

The event was also attended by Chief of Medicine and Health Agency of Papua Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Nariana, accompanied by Chief of PR and Press Agency of Papua Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, and Head of Regional Education, Library, and Archiving Agency, Christian Sohilait.

Chief of Papua Regional Police said that Police, in collaboration with Education Agency, held the Merdeka Vaccination Event from August 1 to 17, 2021, as the appeal from the central government to instruct Education Agency to collaborate with Police to hold door-to-door vaccination events to Senior High Schools in Jayapura city or regency.

"I hope the participating students could be the emissary for their family and other people to share their experiences, so more Papuans get vaccinated", the two-star general said.

Because the important moment now is to protect themselves through vaccination and implementing Health Protocols to maintain the region healthy, moreover on the approaching 20th National Sports Week (PON XX) in Papua.

"I also appeal the people to get vaccinated if they want to watch PON, which only allows people with vaccination cards to enter the venue", Police Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri said.

The Police appreciate the initiation and hope that this event could be amplified to other regions.

Head of Education Agency said that they receive the letter to conduct vaccination for 12-18 year-olds. Therefore, the agency conducted special mapping for four regency clusters running PON. The agency targets 51,000 people to be vaccinated.

"Meanwhile, for all Papua, out of 229,000 people, 51,000 people are in Jayapura city and regency, Mimika regency, and Merauke regency. Until today, we have inoculated 30% of them. Education Agency does not have health facilities, so we collaborate with Police", Head of Education Agency said.
