Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Bekasi. Chief of Intelligence and Security Agency of Indonesian National Police, Paulus Waterpauw, taught insight related to national values to hundreds of santri (students in Islamic boarding schools) in Nuu Waar Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) of Al Fatih Kaaffah Nusantara (AFKN) Foundation, Setu, Bekasi regency, West Java, to build a santri with the character based on Pancasila for nation's welfare.
Most male and female santris in Nuu Waar Pesantren are from Papua and West Papua. Their faraway hometown tends to make it challenging to study or understand the teaching session on the nation's values titled "Building a Pancasila-based Human Resources for a Productive Papuan Advancement and Welfare" by adhering to tight Health Protocols, such as PCR test before going into the session place.
Therefore, besides religion lesson, the pesantren feel the need to provide classes on national understanding and insight to the santri so they can improve the human resource quality and their love to the country.
"They must be taught on how to love parents, obligation to obey the advice of teachers and Ustaz, and love the Pancasila and nation's way of life", Chief of Intelligence and Security Agency of Indonesian National Police, Paulus Waterpauw, said on Saturday (12/6/2021).
The three-star general believed that improving understandings of nationhood would make the santri has the inside and outside skills, both in spirituality and in attitude.
"We hope that they become a model citizen that has excellency in faith and understandings on Al-Quran. Later, they would also channel their knowledge to their siblings and will keep developing day by day to continue the nation's way of life", he explained.
The Former Chief of Papua Regional Police also appreciated pesantren that always holds positive activities to shape santri's characters to be beneficial for religion, nation, and country.
"Keep conducting activities on devotional efforts on faith and religion to our children so they will not be lost and influenced by other parties that threaten the wholeness and unity of this nation's way of life", Chief of Intelligence and Security Agency of Indonesian National Police concluded.
