Chief of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, Police Inspector General Lotharia Latif, Wednesday, July 28, 2021, directly monitored the implementation of PPKM (Community Activity Restriction) Level 4 in East Sumba Regency. The monitoring visit was also folllowed by Commander of 161/ Wira Sakti Military Region Command Kupang, Brigadier General Legowo WR Jatmiko, El-Tari Kupang Air Force Base Commander, First Marshal of Indonesia National Armed Forces Umar Fathurrohman.
To members of East Sumba PPKM (Community Activity Restriction) Task Force, Inspector General Lotharia Latif advised the task to conduct the task in humanist manner, not against humanity.
"I ask officers who supervise the implementation of PPKM level 4 in East Sumba Regency not to be arrogant and rude. It must be carried out humanist manner,” Police Inspector General Lotharia Latif explained while monitoring the implementation of the second stage of vaccination at East Sumba Resort Police Headquarter.
Chief of East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police advised police officers not to act arrogantly, including using harsh words to people in Sikka Regency, who are currently at level 4 PPKM.
“If a violation is found, it must be politely reprimanded. Remember people are already having a hard time being affected by Covid-19, don't make it difficult again with rude actions. You have to give the best possible understanding and be full of persuasion,” the Two-Star General explained.
The 1988 Indonesian Armed Forces Academy graduate said in East Nusa Tenggara Province there are three areas with Level 4 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). They are East Sumba Regency, Sikka and Kupang City. This is because for these three regions, Covid-19 cases continue to increase and make the occupancy of beds in hospitals already above the WHO standard of 60%.
"The percentage of Covid-19 spread in these three areas exceeds the WHO standard so PPKM Level 4 is implemented. This is a concern and a challenge for us to try to prevent Covid-19 cases . Must reduce by implementing Covid -19 protocol strictly. It is enough for these three regions to implement PPKM level 4. 19 other regencies are expected not to," the former Chief of Indonesia National Police concluded
