Chief of East Java Regional Police Advised People to Fight Together Against the Spread of Covid-19 in Bangkalan

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Surabaya. Chief of East Java Regional Police, Police Inspector General Nico Afinta, advised people to fight together against Covid-19 pandemic. He stated this during his visit at Surabaya and Madura Regional Development Center (BPWS) Bangkalan, Monday (06/21/2021).

"We received inputs from people who demonstrate against the insulation implemented by the team from Indonesia National Armed Forces and Indonesia National Police, Provincial Government, Regional Government, and the Surabaya City Government," Chief of East Java Regional Police said.

Police Inspector General Nico Afinta explained the purpose of the insulation was to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

"What we know now is that it [Covid-19 case] is still developing, especially in Bangkalan area and also Surabaya. Those are the five areas we Forkopimda (regional leaders forum) concern, including me, the Commander of Military Area, the Regional Secretary, explained," the two-star General explained.

The 1992 graduate of Indonesian Armed Forces Academy said the lockdown would be implemented until Covid-19 cases in Bangkalan is decreasing.

"We hope Sampang, Pamekasan, Sumenep are good, I also see that the people are good. It is proven from now, that the vaccinations carried out in Sumenep today can be more than two thousand. Then yesterday in Sampang, a thousand were vaccinated. So that public awareness regarding the dangers of Covid- 19 has grown," the former of Director of General Crime of Crime Investigation Agency of Indonesia National Police said.

The Chief of East Java Regional Police explained in Bangkalan, many people have volunteered to carry out swab test and vaccinations. Regarding the necessary to carry out insulation or not, Forkopimda will later take decision regarding the existing situation.

The Two-Star General asked all residents to work together to overcome Covid-19.

"Community participation, support and awareness is very much needed. Government officials, both the Covid task force, the Indonesia National Armed Forces, and theIndonesia National Police will not succeed in handling this pandemic without community support. We are working together with all efforts so we can overcome the pandemic," Police Inspector General Nico Afinta concluded
