Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Semarang. The Central Java Regional Police have named the captain of the shelter IV ship that sank in Nusakambangan Island, Cilacap, Central Java as a suspect.
Head of Public Relations Division of the Central Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner M Iqbal Alqudusy said that suspect SA (53) was charged with Article 359 of the Criminal Code regarding negligence that caused another person's death.
According to the Middle Officer of Central Java Regional Police, the case of the sinking of the Shelter IV ship was handled by the Cilacap Departemental Police.
Police Grand Commissioner M Iqbal Alqudusy explained that 12 witnesses were examined in the investigation of the case.
"12 witnesses, including five passengers, survived the incident," explained the Head of Public Relations Division of the Central Java Regional Police.
The Central Java Regional Police have coordinated with the prosecutor's office in handling the case.
Previously, it was reported that the Shelter IV ship sank in Nusakambangan, Cilacap, on September 17, 2021.
Two of the ship's passengers died in the accident.
At the time of the incident, the ship carried seven passengers, a motorcycle, and two trucks carrying sand.
