Bringing 48.36 Kilograms of Explosives, Fisherman Arrested in the Middle of the Sea

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A man with the initials AMD was arrested by the police for carrying 48.36 kilograms (kg) of explosives. The man was caught in the middle of the sea.

Directorate of the Water Police from National Police's Directorate of Water and Air Police, Brigadier General. Pol. Mohammad Yassin Kosasih, said the Directorate of Water and Air Police - National Police's Security Maintance Agency arrested a man with the initials AMD for possession of 48.36 kg of potassium explosive. The explosives are suspected to be used to make fish bombs.

"When he sailed from Sapeken to Bali, our members were already on the ship following AMD when he boarded and sailed, it turned out that 48 kilograms of low explosive explosives were found in his bag," said Directorate of Water and Air Police - National Police's The Security Maintance Agency, Tanjung Priok, Wednesday (09/15/21).

The perpetrator was arrested onboard KM Nadelyn, which was anchored at Celukan Bawang Harbor, Pengulon Village, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency, Bali.

The suspect AMD and the evidence were then taken to the Head of the Water and Air Police Bali Regional Police for an intensive examination, and it was discovered that this was not the first time AMD had smuggled explosives.

"This AMD suspect has traveled 16 times and this is the first time he has been caught," he said.

The results of the examination at the Bali Police Forensic Laboratory also stated that the items brought by AMD were strongly suspected of being low explosives used for fish bombs.

"The next day, led by the Bali Police Mobile Brigade, the disposal was carried out to prevent unwanted things and we set aside a few kilograms as evidence in court," he said.

The Directorate of Water and Air Police also coordinated with the National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 to check whether the suspect AMD was involved in the terrorism network.

"It was immediately profiled and it should be suspected that it had nothing to do with terrorist activities, because the person concerned was only buying and selling fish bomb explosives," he explained.
