BNNP Bali Thwarts 44 Kg Cannabis Smuggling at Mengwi Terminal

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Denpasar. The Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) managed to thwart the smuggling of 44 kilograms of marijuana. The prohibited items were packed in sacks of used clothes hidden among piles of wood.

The marijuana was sent from Medan using box car number B 9727 KXT. The car was followed from the Merak Toll Road to Jakarta. When arriving at Mengwi Terminal, on Monday (06/14/2021) early in the morning, the box car was searched by BNNP Bali officers.

BNNP Bali also deployed sniffer dog to search the car. As a result, 12 sacks of used clothes were found, contained 22 packets of dried marijuana in five sacks, each weighing two kilograms, which were neatly packaged using plastic and covered with used clothes.

The driver initials M (30) was sent to meet WG, the man who ordered him to send marijuana from Medan to Bali. WG, who was arrested with his wife in Banyuwangi, East Java, admitted that the marijuana belonged to him.

The head of the BNNP Bali, Police Brigadier General Gede Sugianyar, said the marijuana was sent by WG from Medan to Bali. WG is the largest cannabis supplier in Bali.

"This is a development of the arrestment of a drug dealer who became list of BNNP Bali wanted person (DPO), a husband and wife who are indeed big suppliers of marijuana to Bali," the Head of BNNP Bali explained.

According to the Head of BNNP Bali, the large-scale shipment of marijuana to Bali also involved the central BNN who followed the boxcar from Jakarta to Bali.
