The Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) of the National Police (Polri) has instructed the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalsel) to take action against illegal miners in Tanah Bumbu, which is part of the PT Anzawara Satria concession. The illegal miners are suspected of breaking through the police line previously installed by Bareskrim.

"It is the Bareskrim that put the police line. The case has been handled by Polda Kalsel," stated the Director of Specific Crimes of Bareskrim, Brigadier General Pipit Rismanto, Sunday (20/2/2022).

The case of illegal mining in Anzawara has killed an advocate named Jurani. Police managed to arrest two suspects, but two other perpetrators are still fugitives. The handling of the Jurani case was also handed over to Polda Kalsel.

“The case will be handled by Polda Kalsel," said the One-Star General.

The Bareskrim instruction to Polda Kalsel was a follow-up to a letter requesting assistance for controlling illegal mining, which was sent by the Director-General of Mining and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ridwan Djamaluddin, last January.
