Officials from the Directorate of Drug Investigation at the South Sumatra Police succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of 16 kg of methamphetamine. This illicit item comes from Medan, North Sumatra.
The methamphetamine smuggling was revealed after personnel from the special team unit of the Drugs Directorate stopped a black pickup truck on Jalan Palembang-Jambi KM 59, Simpang Tungkal Village, Tungkal Jaya District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Tuesday (1/2/22) night.
"Yes, tomorrow morning will be announced directly by the Kapolda at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters," said the Director of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Sumatra Police, Commissioner Heri Istu Hariono.
Based on the information gathered from the police, the evidence for methamphetamine was smuggled in by two perpetrators. The perpetrators hid the drugs in the underside of a pickup truck with the police number BG 9833 NQ transporting modified oil palm plantations from Medan.
The two perpetrators, initialed F, 41, and A, 48, are residents of Pante Bidari District, East Aceh Regency, Aceh. The police found 16 kg of crystal methamphetamine in 16 plastic wrappers of the Guanyin Wang brand of green tea wrapped in blue tarpaulin rolls and tied with a plastic tambourine rope, which will be circulated in Palembang City.
Currently, the perpetrators along with the evidence of 16 drug packages and a black pickup have been secured at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters, Palembang, for further investigation.
