Around 80,000 vehicles were in Puncak, Bogor, during the long holiday period since Friday (25/2/22). West Java Police Chief (Kapolda Jabar) Inspector General Suntana stated that based on the toll road data, around 80,000 vehicles are heading towards Puncak that pass through the Ciawi Toll Road, and more than 50,000 have returned to Jakarta through the Ciawi Toll Road.

To anticipate the density of backflow, the Police have prepared a traffic plan by implementing a one-way system along the Puncak route.

"We will do a one-way cut-off system at some part of the route or as a whole. But before implementing it, the Bogor Resort Police, as stated by their Head of Traffic, will carry out a one-way plan only if necessary," explained the regional police chief.

Inspector General Suntana emphasized that his party had carried out their duties in accordance with the SOP, especially regarding the handling of the Puncak route. According to him, the traffic jam that had occurred last Sunday was mainly due to the increasing volume of vehicles, and there were also about 10 vehicles having an engine break down.

"Yesterday's incident was because there were 8 to 10 vehicles that have an engine broke down on the road. But I think the Bogor Resort Police and other agencies are quick in handling that problem," said the Kapolda Jabar.

In addition, there are also many groups of motorcyclists on the Puncak route, which exacerbates congestion. It is reported that they often ignore traffic rules such as taking the opposite direction.

"That's a problem during holidays, many people using a motorcycle to Puncak and sometimes they ignored the traffic rules or regulations," said Inspector General Suntana.
