Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chief of National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, appreciated the participants and winners of the 2021 Bhayangkara Mural Festival. Chief of National Police said that critics for the National Police drawn by the participants through its murals would be a positive input for improvement.

In this event, the Chief of National Police handed certificates and awards to ten winners of the mural festival chosen by the panel of judges and held at the Bhayangkara courtyard of the Indonesian National Police Headquarter Complex Trunojoyo Street, South Jakarta, on Saturday (30/10).

"We just handed over trophies, and award certificates to ten mural competition winners, in which seven are contenders and three are the first, second, and third place. Thank God for the scoring because I believe the juries are independent and have undoubted abilities", the Chief of National Police said.

During this occasion, Listyo addressed that the first place is the mural that dares to criticise the Police. The critics in the mural, according to Listyo, would be accepted to build the Police in the future.

"Once again, thank you to all colleagues and guard us to be a better Police, the Police that is close with and adored by the public", he said.

The first winner of the mural festival is La Ode Umar (29), a participant from Jakarta. He received an Rp50 million prize. He felt happy to be the winner at this competition and appreciated the Chief of National Police, who provided space for the muralists to bring their creativity.

"Thank God I am so happy. And I am also happy that Indonesian Police could appreciate the mural artists and provide space to compete", La Ode said.

La Ode is grateful that the 2021 Bhayangkara Mural Festival could be a creative space. He stated that the Police, under the leadership of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, is not an anti-critic person.

Previously, the Chief of National Police permitted the participants of the mural festival to criticise anything to the Police through their murals. Chief of National Police stated that the most criticising muralist would become his friend.

"Especially, on the National Police, if the work is the one most criticising, we would accept that. And I also guarantee that the maker would be the friend of the Chief of National Police", Sigit said in his opening statement at the Bhayangkara courtyard of the Indonesian National Police Headquarter Complex Trunojoyo Street, South Jakarta, on Saturday (30/10).

Chief of National Police explains that he wants to see the public perception towards National Police. He also wants to repair the Indonesian National Police to be people's one of the beloved institutions.

"We the Indonesian National Police institution want the people to provide an image on how people perceived Police so that we could repair ourselves and make our personnel better, becoming a trusted and beloved Police", he said.

"Therefore, I today affirmed that National Police respect freedom of expression. Mr President previously said that Indonesia is a democratic country and respects freedom of expression", Chief of National Police continued.

Besides, the Chief of National Police also affirmed that the government and Police are not allergic to critics. He feels proud if there are competition participants who dare to express their critics through murals.
