Tribratanews.polri.go.id- Tanjung Selor. Towards the turn of the season, the North Kalimantan Police are preparing various steps to anticipate early forest and land fires (Karhutla). This was done even though North Kalimantan was not included in the six priority provinces for handling disaster-prone areas during the dry season, whose peak is predicted to be in August 2021.

"There are six priority areas of the National Police for the priority of handling forest and land fires, namely the Riau, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and South Sumatra regions. Even so, North Kalimantan remains vigilant and anticipates early," said Head of Public Relations of North Kalimantan Regional Police Chief, Pol. Grand Commissioner Attendant Budi Rachmat, in Tanjung Selor. Thursday, (08/06/21).
The Head of Public Relations of North Kalimantan Regional Policeexplained that in addition to forming the Forest and Land Fire Task Force, the North Kalimantan Regional Police also took preventive steps by intensifying the socialization of the prohibition of clearing land by burning and punishing sanctions according to regulations, including the Environmental Law and Forestry Law.

The North Kalimantan Regional Police also optimizes its advanced technology, one of which is the Digital Smoke application which is able to detect hot spots in the North Kalimantan area.

"Yes, for the monitoring of forest and land fires. The application is in the Command Center room of the North Kalimantan Regional Police and is managed by the operations bureau of the Kaltara Police," explained the Head of Public Relations of North Kalimantan Regional Police.

The construction of the facility is a form of anticipation from the Kaltara Regional Police by utilizing central funds against the threat of forest and land fires that always lurk in every dry season. It is hoped that with the existence of this facility, the threat of forest and land fires (Karhutla) in North Kalimantan can be anticipated.
