Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Pekanbaru. In a press conference after leading the 2021 Obedient Lancang Kuning Operation Troop, Monday (20/9), Riau Police Chief, Inspector General. Pol. Agung Setya Imam Effendi, said his party had detained Dr MH (52 years), the Head of the Meranti Islands District Health Office, on suspicion of embezzling rapid test kits and using them for personal gain. The suspect is threatened with being charged with Article 9 of the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 10 with a threat of 5 to 10 years in prison.
Now MH has been detained by the Riau Regional Police. The case is handled by the Sub-directorate III of the Criminal Investigation Unit. Inspector-General Agung at his press conference accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Regional Police, Brigadier General Tabana Bangun, Head of Public Relations Kombes Sunarto, and Director of Criminal Investigation, Pol. Grand Commissioner Attendant Ferry Irawan said that the investigation would continue, including tracing the alleged involvement of other actors, apart from the suspect M.H. himself.
"Of course, we will look into the case again," said the Riau Regional Police Chief.
The disclosure of M.H.'s actions began after the police received information from the public regarding the rapid test kits provided by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries class II office, which were misused. This rapid test should have been intended for free, but it is suspected that the suspect was commercialized or sold with IDR value—one hundred fifty thousand or more for each device.
"Last Friday, we checked and detained Dr MH, as the Head of the Meranti Health Service. We carried out an investigation into the embezzlement of state goods for personal gain. As a result, we found that 3,000 rapid antigen test aids provided by the KKP office were misappropriated, not distributed," explained the Riau Regional Police Chief.
"This antigen is commercialized to people in need, where the purpose of the Rapid test grant given to the agency has been misused. We will calculate later how much the state loses. He commercialized one rapid test by withdrawing IDR of One hundred fifty thousand or more." explained the Riau Regional Police Chief.
To avoid being suspected, the suspect then covered it up by making a false allocation report. The suspect's case began in September 2020.
"We got information and data from the community, then we investigated it because we know that the rapid which should be stored in health facilities is not the case, where some of the tools are in the clinic concerned (M.H.)," explained the Riau Regional Police Chief.
