Ahead of the 2021 National Sports Week in Papua, the Riau Regional Police Prepares Mobile Brigade Personnel to Guard Athletes

This was said by the Governor of Riau (Gubri) Syamsuar after a meeting with the Riau Regional Police Chief, Pol. Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, Mobile Brigade Commander, Pol. Grand Commissioner Dedi Suryadi, National Sports Week administrators and Riau Department of Youth and Sports, Thursday (08/05) at the residence of the Riau Governor's Office, Diponegoro street, Pekanbaru. .
"We together with the Regional Police Chief, the Mobile Brigade Commander and the Riau Indonesian National Sports Committee administrators have discussed preparations for the departure of Riau's National Sports Week athletes in Papua, which are planned for early September 22, 2021," he said.

The Governor of Riau said that according to the direction of the National Police Chief, all Indonesian Police Chiefs were asked to protect athletes participating in Papua National Sports Week activities. Therefore, his party discussed the technical departure of the Riau athletes.

"That's why we talked about it technically, and Mr. Regional Police Chief has assigned 30 Mobile Brigade personnel to guard the security of Riau athletes at National Sports Week of Papua. Later Mobile Brigade members will depart together with a group of Riau athletes to Papua," he said.

The Governor of Riau said that before the athletes and security officers left for Papua, a PCR swab would first be carried out, because this was a requirement to enter Papua. In addition, the Governor conveyed based on reports from the Department of Youth and Sports and National Sports Week of Riau, that Riau athletes had been prepared in such a way as to participate in the Papua's National Sports Week.

"Our athletes are now ready to compete in National Sports Week of Papua, and now they are still doing regular exercises by each sport," he said.
