Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Cilegon. The smuggling of lobster seeds (baby lobster) has been the focus of the Banten Regional Police nowadays. On Saturday (6/12/2021) at around 03.00 Indonesia Western Time, the Directorate of Water Police (Ditpolair) of the Banten Regional Police managed to thwart the smuggling of 90 thousand baby lobsters at Merak Harbor, Cilegon City.
The case was dismantled by investigators of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of Water Directorate based on reports from the people that there was baby lobster smuggling from West Java and South Banten regions. The report was then immediately followed up.

“Within a few days, when the shift was going to be made (the baby lobster) we were already following. So that when we crossed in Merak, we managed to secure it. As for the evidence, we have secured 15 boxes of around 90,000 baby lobsters," as said by Vice Director of Water Police of Banten Regional Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Attendant Abdul Majid when revealing the case at Command Post of Banter Water Directorate.
The Vice Director of Water Police mentioned the baby lobsters that were secured came from several areas in West Java and Banten. Among them are from the Pelabuhan Ratu, Binuangan and Bayah areas.
So far, his party is still investigating whether the baby lobster smuggling will be exported or not. However, what is clear is that baby lobster is not allowed to be exported based on a letter issued by the Directorate General of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs.
"From the circular letter of the Director-General of Fisheries, no shifts can be made. It must be managed in the region,” he concluded.
His party stated that Ditpolair estimates that each baby lobster is sold at a price of IDR 250 thousand. This means that by disclosing the case, his party managed to save the state finances of around Rp. 23 billion.
In this case, besides the baby lobster as evidence, police also managed to arrest a perpetrator with the initials M. The perpetrator was charged with Law No. 45 the Year 2009 on amendments to Law No. 31 the Year 2004 which has been adjusted to the Job Creation Act No. 11 of 2009 2020 on Fisheries.
"In Article 92, Article 26, the threat is not 8 years in prison. Whoever controls, owns, distributes it will be charged with this article with a fine of IDR 8 billion (USD 550)," he explained.
