TVRI Commits to Independent and Impartial Coverage of 2024 General Election

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Bali. State-owned television network Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) pledged to being independent and impartial in its coverage of the 2024 election. The statement was made during a meeting of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Headquarters on Friday (3/3/2023).

“TVRI’s election coverage is free from any form of political or commercial pressure, as well as pressure from individuals, groups, or specific parties. TVRI will prioritize national integration and unity through the spirit of nationalism and communal harmony,” said TVRI CEO Imam Brotoseno in explaining the concept of independence.

As for journalistic guidelines, TVRI will adhere to the applicable laws and regulations and will follow the guidelines set by the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) and TVRI’s editorial policy.

Furthermore, TVRI has implemented its election coverage standards with the principle of “first in, first out”, referring to actuality of the content. The coverage must also be accurate and in line with the facts presented in a straightforward manner.

“TVRI’s election coverage is based on truth and prioritizes objectivity and fairness, adhering to the basic principles of journalism where facts are not obscured by opinion,” he emphasized.
