The Analysis of The Soaring Prices of BBM

31 March 2022 - 21:20 WIB

Tribratanews.polri.go.id -  The increase in the price of fuel oil (BBM) seems to be unavoidable. The high demand from the public along with the easing of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) and the soaring price of crude oil in the international market have overwhelmed Pertamina if the price of fuel is not increased.

Moreover, Commission VI of the DPR approved Pertamina to adjust the price of non-subsidized and subsidized fuel, according to the conclusion of Commission VI of the DPR and PT Pertamina on Monday (28/3/2022).

Pertamina itself has raised the price of non-subsidized Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex fuels in early March 2022. Only Pertamax non-subsidized fuel is currently sold at Rp 9,000 per liter. That said, the price of Pertamax is still far from the economic price.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources calculates that the Pertamax fuel price is economically up to Rp. 16,000 per liter. So the potential for price increases is still there.

The daily chairman of the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) Tulus Abadi, asked the public to understand if the government has to raise the price of Pertamax fuel. The reason is also that the selling price of Pertamax is far below its economy.

However, if it is true that the government raises the price of Pertamax to an economic level, Rp. 15 thousand per liter, then it will push the price of Pertamax Turbo further. The government is likely to only increase the price of Pertamax to the range of Rp. 11 thousand / liter.
