Joint Forces Kill KKB Member in Mundidok Village Shootout

The joint forces of the Indonesian Military and Indonesian National Police (INP) killed a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in a shootout that occurred in Mundidok Village, Puncak Regency on Wednesday (22/3/23). The shootout, which occurred during the pursuit of the suspect involved in the shooting of a motorcycle taxi driver in Ilaga, was a result of aerial surveillance observation, which led the joint force to the location of the KKB group,

“During aerial surveillance observation, the joint forces spotted around 20 individuals carrying two firearms while crossing from Mundidok Village towards Kimak Village. The joint forces acted decisively, resulting in a fierce encounter that led to a firefight with the group,” said Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, the Head of the Public Relations Division of Papua Regional Police, on Thursday (23/3/23).

After the joint force cleaned up the area, they discovered a body of a KKB member identified as ET, 23-year-old, who had been fatally shot dead. The body was then transported to the Puncak District Hospital.

“We also discovered some items at the scene, including three pieces of 5.56 MM caliber firearms, one piece of 5.56 MM caliber ammunition casing, two “noken” bags, one Yamaha motorcycle key, and two packs of Anggur Kupu cigarettes. There were no casualties or injuries reported among the joint forces,” he explained.
