3,017 Papuan students received ‘ADIK’ scholarships

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jayapura. It was recorded that 3,017 Papuan students including those from the three new autonomous regions (DOB) received scholarships through the Higher Education Affirmation (ADIK) program.

In his statement, the Head of Special Education and Special Services (PKLK) of the Papua Library and Archives Education Office, Laurens Wantik said thousands of students from Papua who received the ADIK scholarship were spread across 97 public and private universities in Indonesia.

ADIK recipient students from Papua are currently studying in various educational cities including Lokseumawe, Bandung, Surabaya, Bogor, Bali, Jakarta, Kupang, Ambon, Makassar, and Manado.

 Every year Papua gets a quota of around 400 people but in 2022 315 people passed.

 For 2023, the selection will be carried out in mid-April.

“The ADIK program is aimed at native Papuan students who wish to continue their education at tertiary institutions,” he said, as reported by Antaranews, Saturday (4/8/23).

While continuing their studies, they are given health insurance during college in the amount of IDR 10 million, tuition fees, and monthly fees of IDR 1.5 million each.

At the end of the opportunity, he revealed, the fields of study that were most in demand were social politics, economics, and science which included medicine and engineering.
