All ranks of the Police, from Regional Polices to the National Police, are asked to take firm action against online gambling and other gambling that uses technology.
Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, conveyed the order of the National Police Chief, General Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, following the massive promotion of gambling on online channels on social media.
"On the orders of the National Police Chief, online gambling that is milling about on social media must be dealt with firmly," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Police.
The order to eradicate online gambling has also spawned a policy, namely the issuance of a Telegram Letter (ST) from the Indonesian Police Criminal Investigation Agency for all Regional Polices.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Police, Commissioner General Agus Andrianto, said that the action against online gambling had been carried out by the regional polices throughout Indonesia. These actions include arresting a number of bookies, as well as blocking online gambling sites.
The action was also carried out by the Criminal Investigation Agency team through the role of the Cyber Crime Directorate.
Those who have been prosecuted will be charged with articles contained in the general law of the Criminal Code and the ITE Law and the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU).
