Tribratanews.polri.go.id – The Cartenz Peace Operations of The Law Enforcement Task Force shot dead the leader of the pro-Papuan independence group Ndeotadi, Toni Tabuni because they retaliated when they were about to be arrested. The arrest occurred on Tuesday (29/3/2022), in Nabire Regency.
"The team arrested the target, Toni Tabuni, but because the person concerned was trying to fight back, decisive action has to be taken which caused the death of the person concerned," explained the Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) of the National Police (Polri) Public Relations Division (Divisi Humas), Brigadier General Dr. Ahmad Ramadhan, S.H., M.H., M.Sc., at Police Headquarters, Wednesday (30/3/2022).
Toni Tabuni was involved in several acts of terror, such as committing violence against the apparatus, seizing weapons, as well as shooting at people which caused many people to die and be wounded.
“Even Toni Tabuni was also involved in burning the airports in Papua. He has also been involved in several armed assaults with the authorities,” explained the One-Star General.
Currently, Toni Tabuni's body has been taken to Nabire Hospital for examination. After the incident, the Inspector General stated that the current situation was safe and conducive.
