Polda Sumsel Managed To Secure 58 Suspects of Drug Crimes in The First Week of April

tribratanews.polri.go.id - The Directorate of Drug Investigation (Ditresnarkoba) of the Regional Police of South Sumatra (Polda Sumsel), along with the Departamental Police in the region managed to secure 58 suspects of drug cases during the last week of April 2022.

"This week or the first week in April 2022, our members were able to arrest 58 suspects out of 44 drug crimes," said the Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of the South Sumatra Police (Polda Sumsel), Commissioner Supriadi, Monday (04/03/22).

Police Commissioner Supriadi said that out of 58 suspects, 55 of them were dealers and three others were users.

"In addition to securing the perpetrators, our members also secured the evidence of 1.7 kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine, 1 kg of marijuana, and 168.5 pills of ecstasy," said the Intermediate Officer of Polda Sumsel.

From the evidence that was secured, he continued, the police estimated had succeeded in rescuing at least 12,000 youths.

"We will continue to disclose this case to ensure the younger generation is safe from the entanglement of these illicit goods," explained Kabid Humas Polda Sumsel.

"Thankfully, on this first week of April, all Departamental Police in the ranks were successful in disclosing drug cases, so that none of them were included in the list of zero cases," said the Akabri graduate in 1991.

The police are constantly reminding them to maintain their efforts to disclose drug cases because, during the Covid-19 pandemic, many perpetrators are smuggling drugs into the South Sumatra region.
