Aceh Police Arrest 12 Illegal Gold Miners

The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Aceh Police arrested 12 suspected perpetrators of illegal gold mining in Blang Neuang Village, Beutong District, Nagan Raya Regency and gold mining in Leubok Beutong Village, Sungai Mas District, Wednesday (9/11/22). During the raid, officers managed to confiscate two heavy excavators, two gold pans, and three gold filter sheets.

Director of Criminal Investigation Commissioner Sony Sonjaya, confirmed that the raid was carried out based on information from the local community. Communities report concerns about illegal gold mining which is damaging the environment.

“Currently, the perpetrators are being detained at the Nagan Raya Police and West Aceh Police. For this reason, we remind illegal miners who have not been caught to immediately stop these unlawful activities. Because, we will arrest you sooner or later for disturbing the community, “he concluded.
